Referral of matters


If you have a complaint or a concern, you may telephone the Ombud’s office on 031 260 3602 for assistance, to make enquiries or to schedule an appointment for a consultation.  The office address is: L Block Room 011 (next to ICS), Westville Campus.

You may also  complete the Referral Form, available and email to ombud@ukzn.ac.za.

Please ensure that highly sensitive documents are submitted personally to the Ombud’s office staff member to safeguard confidentiality.

Referral of matters to and the uptake of complaints by, the Ombud is seen as a last resort after all other channels are exhausted. Please ensure that all internal protocols have been observed, for more information refer to the Communication Protocol for Student matters  and Communication Protocol for staff matters
